Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the San Tan Valley Veteran Center Sept 12

On September 12, 2020 at 10 a.m., the Joe Foss American Legion Post 97, will celebrate the culmination of a goal set 10 years ago with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony presenting the San Tan Valley Veteran Center.

The ceremony will take place at the San Tan Valley Veteran Center, located at 5764 East Hunt Highway, San Tan Valley, AZ 85132, formally known as the Oasis Golf Course Clubhouse. The event is open to the public and will include remarks from, Mike Goodman, District 2 Supervisor and Director Wanda Wright, from the Arizona Department of Veteran Services. Also in attendance will be Pinal County Sherriff Mark Lamb.

The primary function of the Center will be to assist local veterans, their dependents and survivors through the process of claims for benefits and entitlements available from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the State of Arizona.

Processing compensation and pension applications, appealing VA decisions and applying for special veteran license plates are just some of the services the office will be able to provide for the residents of Pinal County.

The San Tan Valley Veteran Center continues to support through the pandemic by assisting Veterans reaching over $9,000 per month in VA claims and has collected 24 units of blood during our blood drive.

Joe Foss American Legion Post 97 members has been influential each step along the way in helping the Veteran Center become a reality. The Veteran Center has been made possible through the Johnson Family Foundation and Above and Beyond Corporate Events,

Guests will experience a formal presentation of colors by the Basha High School AF JROTC Honor Guard and the National Anthem performed by the Manhattan Dolls. The unveiling ceremony and ribbon cutting will begin at 10:00 am, and guests will be invited to an open house for the building following the end of the ceremony until 12 p.m.
